Bill Murray definitief niet in Ghostbusters III
Een tijdje geleden vertelde Dan Aykroyd dat de film Ghostbusters III mogelijk gewoon zonder Bill Murray gemaakt zou worden. Hij kon dit op dat moment nog niet bevestigen, maar nu blijkt uit een gesprek dat Aykroyd met The Telegraph voerde, dat dit definitief is. Als de film gemaakt wordt, zal Murray er geen rol in hebben.
"Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn't want to be involved,” aldus Aykroyd. “He's got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He's into this life and living it. I know we'd have a lot of fun [but] I can't be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know,"
Daarnaast vertelde hij dat het nog niet zeker is of de film er komt. "I honestly don't know. At this point it's in suspended animation," antwoordde hij op de vraag hoe het zat met de film. Er is wel nog hoop: "The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it."
In het bericht van twee weken geleden vertelde Aykroyd dat het nog een mogelijkheid zou zijn dat Murray’s personage gewoon opnieuw gecast zou worden. Daar voegde hij echter aan toe dat ze de film niet zullen maken als het scenario niet perfect is. "The script has to be perfect. I'm the cheerleader, but I'm only one voice in the matter. It's a surety that Bill Murray will not do the movie, however there is still interest from the studio."

Bill Murray doet ten minste niet mee aan het flauwe spelletje van oude titels te gebruiken om veel volk te lokken. Hulde voor die man!
Nieuw deeltje zoveel jaar na datum omdat ze geen eigen idee meer hebben en dus willen voortborduren op een bekende formule.
