Synopsis:

Quasi-biografische film over de excentrieke auteur Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) en diens advocaat Oscar Acosta (die in deze film Carl Lazlo heet). Thompsons liefde voor drugs en alcohol gaan hand in hand met zijn bizarre manier van journalistiek bedrijven. Zo geeft hij zijn tickets voor de Super Bowl weg en verslaat hij de wedstrijd vanuit zijn hotelkamer. Door de jaren heen ontmoet hij steeds de advocaat Lazlo, die zo mogelijk nog krankzinniger is dan hijzelf. De ontmoetingen worden dan ook steeds meer bizar.
