Een vader wordt tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlogd met zijn zoontje afgevoerd naar een concentratiekamp. Om het kind het vooruitzicht van een wisse dood te besparen stelt hij de reis voor als een spel, waarin je prijzen kunt winnen. Ook als ze in het kamp zijn blijft hij zijn zoon voorhouden dat er niks ernstigs aan de hand is.
