Paul is de naam van de nieuwe komedie van Simon Pegg en Nick Frost, geregisseerd door Greg Mottola (Superbad). In die film spelen Pegg & Frost twee Britse slackers, die op hun reis naar Area 51 een kleine alien ontmoeten, genaamd Paul. Mottola heeft wat details prijsgegeven over dit kleine groene mannetje.
"Hes basically an alien who may be, lets say, 70% CGI and the big challenge is that he needs to be a very funny, comedic method actor," zo vertelt hij. "Its not the kind of CGI character where we people to say Oh wow, look what they did, thats so cool. Its actually the kind of CGI character where we want people to just treat like another actor in the film, and he should be fully believable and multi-faceted and has to give a great performance, he just doesnt exist. Weve been doing a lot of test trying to figure out how to pull that one off."
Mottola is dus vrij ambitieus. Hij wil een CGI-personage creëren, die zo geloofwaardig is dat je vergeet met een CGI-personage te maken te hebben. Dat belooft een uitdaging te worden.
