Ja je leest het goed. Steven Spielberg lijkt weinig op te hebben met regisseurs die 'teveel' special effects gebruiken in hun films. In een interview met Empire plaats, de inmiddels 63-jarige regisseur, een aantal zeer kritische kanttekeningen richting zijn colleague. SFX zijn prima maar met mate!

There's so many tools we have now in the toolshed and it's just a matter of individual choice of how we use these tools. I frankly think that special effects are becoming too special. There are too many special effects in all these movies today. It means that the movie starts on a special effect, ends on a bigger special effect, and the middle is the same special effect."

Spielberg is natuurlijk nog altijd een icoon in de filmwereld, maar of andere regisseurs hiernaar gaan luisteren?
