Kevin Smith (Clerks, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) heeft een wekelijkse podcast gelanceerd om zijn (eerste) horrorfilm Red State te promoten. De regisseur geeft daar volgende toelichting bij: "It doesn't really tell you anything about plot, it's all about mood and tone, but at this point that's really all I'm willing to share. I made the teaser for the chief audience - which would be myself - so I'm pre-sold!" De audiofragmenten kan je hier beluisteren.

Over de plot van Red State is nog maar weinig bekend. De film zou gebaseerd zijn op het christenfundamentalisme met Fred Phelps (wiens Westboro Baptist Church intolerante preken houdt tegen homoseksuelen) als inspiratiebron. Een soort religieuze exploitationfilm dus. Smith belooft: "Red State will make The Dark Knight look like Strawberry Shortcake."
