Dolph Lundgren deed een opvallende onthulling in het hoofdkwartier van de Britse gossipkrant The Sun. Tijdens het interview onthulde de acteur dat hij begon met martial arts omdat zijn vader hem sloeg
"My dad was in the military. He was an officer. He was a nice guy but kind of violent. When I was a kid he took a lot of stuff out of me and what happens is that a lot of those kids end up as in boxing, rugby, karate, because you need to get that out of your system. Lichtte Lundgren toe.
"Thats why I did it. I didnt realise that at the time but looking back, thats why I did ended up in movies because thats another way to express whats going on, to get it out."
Maar dit was niet de enige onthulling die hij deed in het interview. Zo bleek dat hij tijdens zijn relatie met Grace Jones, in de jaren tachtig, begon alcohol te drinken. "Not until I was 25, because I was competing a lot and training but then, getting into the business, going out with Grace Jones for four years that kind of helped to send me over the edge. I had to numb my brain out like this is not happening. Give me another drink!"
Maar drank zat in zijn bloed, hij komt immers uit Scandinavië. Drinken zit dan in je bloed, vindt hij. "Im Scandinavian. You have to drink, its part of your genetic make up. I dont drink as much now because its easy to get into have too many drinks to relax after work but I found I was self-medicating so I stopped for a while and now I just drink a little bit."
