De eerste reacties zijn namelijk nu op het internet te vinden en deze zijn vooralsnog gemengd. Hoewel critci de sterke acteerprestaties en de indrukwekkende actiescènes prijzen, uiten zij zorgen over de complexiteit van het plot en de toon van de film.
Ontvangst
Mackie, die wederom terugkeert als Sam Wilson/Captain America, wordt genoemd als een waardige opvolger van Evans, die zich deze keer werkelijk ontplooit als de superheld. Ook maakt Harrison Ford zijn debuut in het Marvel Cinematic Universe als President Thaddeus Ross.
Daar blijft het niet bij, aangezien hij ook transformeert in de Red Hulk, wat eveneens voor opwinding zorgt onder fans. Ook regisseur Julius Onah krijgt complimenten voor zijn een unieke visie op het project.
Kritiek
De blockbuster is echter niet zonder controverse. De aanpassing van het achtergrondverhaal van het Israëlische personage Ruth Bat-Seraph, ook bekend als Sabra, heeft geleid tot kritiek. In de strips is zij een mutant en tevens agent voor de Israëlische inlichtingendienst.
In de film wordt ze echter beschreven als een "voormalige Black Widow" en "hooggeplaatste Amerikaanse overheidsfunctionaris". Deze verandering heeft geleid tot beschuldigingen dat Marvel haar Israëlische identiteit heeft verwijderd. Bekijk een handjevol reacties hieronder.
