De film, ook met acteurs Ben Foster en Katy O'Brian, ging deze week in première op het Toronto International Film Festival, en de eerste reacties komen nu naar buiten. Hier bij FilmTotaal zetten we ze voor je op een rijtje.
Sydney Sweeney
Zoals verwacht gaan de reacties vooral over Sweeney zelf. De criticus van Variety was aanwezig en schrijft op X: "Sweeney is een openbaring. (...) Ze heeft de kwaliteiten om een Oscarnominatie te scoren voor Beste Actrice. Haar beste rol tot nu toe."
Criticus Matt Neglia noemt de film "een inspirerend verhaal" en zegt dat het acteerwerk van Sweeney "een standaard boksdrama verhoogt naar iets met veel meer impact." Maar ook Foster krijgt aandacht. Zo vindt Erik Davis zijn acteerwerk even "onherkenbaar" en "woest" als dat van Sweeney.
