Onlangs werd bekendgemaakt dat het vijfde deel uit de Rambo reeks een sciencefiction film zal gaan worden. Het project is losjes gebaseerd op James Byron Huggins' sciencefiction boek Hunter. Sylvester Stallone kocht de rechten van het boek een tijd terug. In het boek gaan 's werelds beste jager en zijn 'enorme, zwarte wolf-spook' in Alaska de strijd aan met een massief en intelligent wezen (het resultaat van een duister DNA-experiment). Zoals hieronder is te zien, is Rambo V duidelijk beïnvloed door Hunter:

A beast is loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle…And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation…It’s a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can’t turn down, but they and a team of highly skilled Special Forces Kill Team [sic] discover that the prey is beyond their wildest imagination, a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments…they’ll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

De poster hieronder dwekt het vermoeden dat Rambo ook een wolf aan zijn zijde zal hebben, net als het hoofdpersonage in Hunter.



Rambo V verschijnt pas in 2011 in de VS. Voor een Nederlandse releasedatum is het nog te vroeg.
