Het is al een tijdje stil rondom Steven Soderbergh's Liberace biopic. Nu The Informant echter af is, is de regisseur bereid om te praten over zijn film over het leven van de flamboyante zanger. Tegen MTV vertelt hij over de potentiële liefdesscènes tusen Liberace (Michael Douglas) en Scott Thorson (Matt Damon).

Soderbergh: "Everybody is hopeful that there will be a full-on, love-wrestling match between these guys. That's not where my mind went. But we have a hot-tub scene in there."

Liberace heeft altijd beweerd dat hij geen homo was, tot op de dag dat hij overleed aan AIDS. Hoewel dit in voorbode is voor een serieus en droevig einde, weet Soderbergh ons te vertellen dat er af en toe best wat te lachen valt.

"It's pretty crazy. I don't think it's a comedy, but it's pretty funny because the environment and the lifestyle are so extreme that even just having these guys carry on a quote-unquote 'normal' conversation in one of these rooms wearing the clothes that they wore, it's hard to look at that and take it at face value.”
