Nu is het de beurt aan de zingende scholieren uit Foxs populaire tv-serie Glee voor hun eigen live 3D concert movie. 20th Century Fox brengt Glee Live! 3D!, geregisseerd door Kevin Tancharoen, op 12 augustus uit in de bioscoop. De film zal slechts twee weken draaien. De opnames zullen plaatsvinden tijdens de Noord-Amerikaanse tour Glee Live! In Concert! die later deze maand van start zal gaan.
Tijdens het concert en in de film zal het grootste gedeelte van de cast van Glee aanwezig zijn: Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum, Jr., Chord Overstreet en Darren Criss. De productie is in handen van Ryan Murphy, de bedenker van de show. Tegenover The Hollywood Reporter zei hij onlangs het volgende:
This tour was all about going out and performing for our amazing fans who have supported our show from the beginning, but due to the limited time we had to travel during our hiatus, there were only so many cities we could get to before we had to resume work on the television series. We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity. Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, well be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate Gleek a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.
