Reel FX gaat samen met Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan's Labyrinth) werken aan een CGI animatiefilm met de titel Day of the Dead. De regie wordt verzorg door de Emmy Award winnaar Jorge R. Gutierrez (El Tigre, The Adventures of Manny Rivera). Hij verzorgt tevens het scenario samen met Doug Langdale. De film, die zich af zal spelen in Mexico, zal bakken vol actie bevatten en daarnaast ook een liefdesverhaal in de stijl van Romeo and Juliet.

Brad Booker van Reel FX zegt het volgende over de samenwerking:

Day of the Dead moet in de herfst van 2014 uitkomen.
