Morgen worden in LA de Oscars uitgereikt, maar vrijdagavond was het in Parijs tijd voor de Cesars, de Franse equivalent van de Oscars. Grote winnaar was zoals verwacht The Artist, die zes prijzen won.

The Artist werd onder andere bekroond met de prijzen voor beste film, regisseur (Michel Hazanavicius) en actrice (Berenice Bejo). Opvallend was dat Jean Dujardin niet bekroond werd tot beste acteur. De Oscarkanshebber verloor van Omar Sy, voor zijn hoofdrol in Untouchables, de op een na best bezochte Franse film aller tijden.
