Regisseur Quentin Tarantino heeft aangekondigd dat zijn volgende film een kung-fu film zal zijn, en niet Inglorious Bastards, de oorlogsfilm en langverwachte ode aan The Dirty Dozen uit 1967.

Opvallend is dat de de gehele film in het Mandarijn gesproken zal worden, inclusief een slecht nagesynchronyseerde Engelse versie.
