Dinsdagmiddag werden de nominaties voor de Academy Awards (ofwel de Oscars) van 2023 bekendgemaakt. Erg verrassend was het voor de volgers van het zogenaamde 'award season' allemaal niet, maar er zaten wel een aantal bijzondere verrassingen tussen. FilmTotaal heeft het overzicht.

Favorieten
De grote favoriet voor de grootste prijs van Hollywood pakt, zoals verwacht, de meeste nominaties. Everything Everywhere All at Once pakt de meeste nominaties: maar liefst elf (!) stuks. Zowel The Banshees of Inisherin en All Quiet on the Western Front pakken negen nominaties en volgen daarmee op gepaste afstand.

Verrassingen
Toch was deze bekendmaking niet zonder verrassingen: bij de beste acteurs in een bijrol is Brian Tyree Henry een verrassende nominatie: zijn rol in Causeway wordt beloond met een nominatie. De meest opvallende nominatie bij de acteurs is misschien wel Andrea Riseborough, die met een campagne die ze volledig zelf financiert een Oscarnominatie binnen weet te slepen voor haar rol in To Leslie.

Ook de winnaar van de Palm d'Or, Triangle of Sadness, heeft een verrassende hoeveelheid nominaties te pakken. Vooral de nominatie voor Ruben Öslund in beste regie was er een die niet veel mensen hadden zien aankomen.
