Eerste reacties op nieuwe 'Spider-Man' noemen film "een kleine Avengers-film", maar zien ook zwakke plekken
Tom Holland keert terug in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', met lof én lichte kritiek.
De toon is (uiteraard) voorlopig opvallend positief. Velen prijzen Tom Holland in zijn terugkeer als Spider-Man en noemen het werk van Destin Daniel Cretton achter de camera sterk. Toch klinkt er ook kritiek op de opbouw van het verhaal.
Veel lof, enkele zorgen
Volgens de eerste berichten voelt de film grootser dan eerdere solofilms. Een bezoeker schrijft dat de film "voelt als een kleine Avengers-film", terwijl anderen zelfs spreken over de beste Spider-Man-film tot nu toe. Kritiek is er vooral op een druk slotstuk en een verhaalstructuur die niet altijd even strak lijkt.
Ook de cast krijgt veel lof. Sadie Sink wordt in meerdere reacties genoemd als opvallende verschijning. Daarnaast zou de samenwerking tussen Spider-Man en Frank Castle, gespeeld door Jon Bernthal, goed werken. Hun dynamiek wordt omschreven als een sterke wisselwerking binnen een groter Marvel-verhaal.
Nieuw hoofdstuk voor Peter
Het verhaal speelt vier jaar na de gebeurtenissen uit Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter woont alleen in New York en beschermt de stad zonder dat zijn oude vrienden nog weten wie hij is. Die keuze heeft volgens de officiële plot zware gevolgen voor hem.
Naast Holland zijn onder anderen Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando en Liza Colón-Zayas te zien. De speelduur staat op 145 minuten en de eerste vertoningen in de Nederlandse bioscopen beginnen morgenochtend.

#SpiderManBrandNewDay suffers from the same problem as many post-Endgame movies: it feels like a stepping stone rather than a cohesive standalone film. It's not the most egregious example of this.
