Dick Cook, de voorzitter van Walt Disney Studios, zet een stap opzij. Hij was 38 jaar in dienst bij de filmmaatschappij. In 1988 kwam hij aan het hoofd van Buena Vista Pictures en sinds 2002 was hij de studiopresident van The Walt Disney Company. Zijn vertrek heeft wellicht te maken met de slechte resultaten van de laatste Disney-films.

Cook legde volgende verklaring af: "I have loved every minute of my 38 years that I have worked at Disney... from the beginning as a ride operator on Disneyland's steam train and monorail to my position as chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. To wrap up my Disney experience in a neatly bundled statement is close to impossible. But what I will say is, during my time at the Studio, we have achieved many industry and Company milestones. Our talent roster is simply the best in the business. I believe our slate of upcoming motion pictures is the best in our history. But most of all, I love the people, my colleagues, my teammates, who are the most talented, dedicated and loyal folks in the world. I know that I leave the Studio in their exceptional hands."

Johnny Depp reageerde teleurgesteld op het nieuws: "Ik vertrouwde hem meteen. En meestal kom je in de filmstudio's geen betrouwbare mensen tegen." Zijn bezieling voor een vierde Pirates of the Caribbean is dan ook danig getemperd: "Momenteel is er een breuk in mijn enthousiasme. Alles is begonnen in het kantoor van Dick." Depp heeft nog altijd niet getekend voor POTC 4 en zei eerder al dat veel zal afhangen van het script...
