Gisteren plaatsten we een sneak peak van Predators, de Predator-reboot van producent Robert Rodriguez en regisseur Nimrod Antal. Op het South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin (Texas) werd intussen ook de eerste trailer van de film vertoond. Slechts 45 bezoekers kregen de exclusieve beelden te zien. Edward Douglas van ShockTillYouDrop was één van hen, en geeft de volgende beschrijving van de trailer:

Naast de trailer kregen de festivalbezoekers ook een exclusieve extended clip te zien. Daarover schrijft Douglas het volgende:

Rodriguez then showed an extended clip of the group encountering something they hadn't seen before (and this is kind of a spoiler, because it gives a reveal of one of the main characters, so you might want to skip the rest of this paragraph if you worry about that sort of thing.) The clip opened with them walking through the woods having just killed one of the creatures and they start hearing strange noises all around them as the camera pans around them, then a menacing Predator appears directly behind Brody with a gun pointed at his head, but when asked "What the f*ck are you?" by Brody, it removes its helmet and (suspenseful drumroll) it's Lawrence Fishburn! Apparently, he arrived on the planet before them and he figured out that the best way to survive was to pretend he's one of them. He tells the group that they're talking too loud and that if he can smell them or hear them, then they (the Predators) can, too. When Braga asks who he is, he responds by saying, "I'm the one that got away, the one you don't f*ck with."

Tijdens de speciale voorstelling veegde Robert Rodriguez het gerucht van tafel dat de film toch geen R-rating zou krijgen. Voor de trailer werd zelfs een speciaal logo gecreëerd waarin het woord 'Predators' wegvloeit in het bloed tot enkel de 'R' overblijft. Het stukje werd uiteindelijk niet vertoond omdat de MPAA daarvoor geen toestemming gaf.

Op het einde van de presentatie zei Rodriguez nog dat Predators niet in 3D werd opgenomen en achteraf ook niet zal geconverteerd worden. Volgens de producent zou de film er minder goed uitzien mocht hij met 3D-camera's zijn opgenomen.

Predators draait vanaf 15 juli in de Nederlandse bioscoop. De cast bestaat uit o.a. Topher Grace, Adrien Brody, Walton Goggins, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Oleg Taktarov, Louiz Ozawa, Laurence Fishburne en Derek Mears.
