Binnenkort is Eddie Murphy te zien in de actiekomedie Tower Heist en op 26 februari 2012 zal hij de Oscaruitreiking presenteren. In gesprek met het magazine Rolling Stone liet Murphy weten dat het langverwachte Beverly Hills Cop IV niet zal worden gemaakt. Verrassend genoeg werkt hij wel aan een Tv-serie rond de zoon van het personage Axel Foley.

Murphy in Rolling Stone over Beverly Hills Cop IV: "They're not doing it. What I'm trying to do now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I'd do the pilot, show up here and there."
