Toen de proloog van The Dark Knight Rises enkele weken geleden in première ging in verschillende Amerikaanse IMAX-bioscopen, kwam er nogal wat kritiek op de stem van villain Bane (Tom Hardy). Volgens velen zou het personage heel moeilijk verstaanbaar zijn. De broertjes Nolan, met name regisseur Christopher en co-schrijver Jonathan, proberen het publiek nu echter gerust te stellen.

Christopher Nolan in een interview met Entertainment Weekly: "I think when people see the film, things will come into focus. Bane is very complex and very interesting and when people see the finished film people will be very entertained by him."

Jonah Nolan in een gesprek met CraveOnline: "I gotta tell you, I think what Tom Hardy's doing with the role is spectacular. I have the benefit of seeing a little bit more than the audience has seen at this point. It's pretty spectacular. (...) I think Chris had long wanted to do sort of the aerial spectacular. It's such a good fit for the IMAX cameras that he likes to shoot with and so that was a long time in the making."

Of het probleem met de stem van Bane inderdaad zal opgelost worden, zal duidelijk worden op 25 juli 2012, wanneer The Dark Knight Rises in première gaat in de Nederlandse bioscopen. De belangrijkste rollen in de film zijn weggelegd voor Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Anne Hathaway (Selina Kyle / Catwoman), Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon), Tom Hardy (Bane), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake), Michael Caine (Alfred) en Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox).
