Tijdens New York Comic Con heeft regisseur Guillermo Del Toro weer wat nieuw leven geblazen in Hellboy 3, de sequel op Hellboy (2004) en Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) die vooralsnog "dood" leek. Tevens liet hij tegenover MTV weten dat de tv-serie The Hulk al een tijdje op non-actief staat.

Volgens Del Toro is de financiering op dit moment de voornaamste uitdaging bij Hellboy 3: "Finlay all the culprits have agreed to try. It's very hard to find who will finance it. The Biggest chapter in the three movies is Hellboy becomes The Beast Of The Apocalypse. So we have been inquiring, but if you have a rich uncle that has 130-150 million dollars...."

De tv-serie rond The Hulk lijkt met name op een laag pitje te staan vanwege de toekomstige S.H.I.E.L.D. serie: "Right now, all I know is we've been in a holding pattern for the last eight months. All The say is we're waiting on a writer, but it's been inactive. It's still there as far as I know, but there's been no action on it."
