Website Cinescape heeft een anoniem bericht toegestuurd gekregen van iemand die beweert bij een test geweest te zijn waar ze een soort trailer te zien kregen van de Knight Rider film, waarover al een tijdje een aantal geruchten de ronde doen.
Het doel van de test was om er achter te komen of het kazige imago van David Hasselhoff, waarvan onlangs nog bekend werd dat hij als rapper Hassle The Hoff aan de weg wil gaan timmeren, het succes van een dergelijke verfilming niet in de weg zou zitten. De aanwezigen meldden dat dit niet het geval zou zijn als een gereputeerde acteur achter het stuur van K.I.T.T. zou gaan zitten, waarna bekend werd dat er gesprekken zijn gevoerd met Paul Walker (The Fast and The Furious) voor de rol.
In de Knight Rider film heeft Knight zijn voormalige baas Devon Miles opgevolgd, en zal de zoon van Knight plaats nemen in de zwarte bolide.

They stated up front right away that Hasselhoff would not be the star but that 'head honchos' were nervous his reputation could detract from the project. Most of the group said they felt it would not if the new star was reputable.
