Gil Cates, de man die de uitzending van de 77e uitreiking van de Academy Awards produceert, heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt wie deze show op 27 februari 2005 zal presenteren: Chris Rock.

Rock debuteerde in Beverly Hills Cop 2, en werd daarna bekend door zijn optredens in het televisieprogramma Saturday Night Live. Hij speelde sindsdien in onder andere Boomerang, Lethal Weapon 4, Dogma, Nurse Betty en Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
