Zak Penn, schrijver voor X-Men 2 en ook voor het derde deel dat in 2006 verschijnt, meldt dat er gehoor wordt gegeven aan de wens/eis van Halle Berry om haar personage Storm een belangrijkere rol te geven in X-Men 3.

Berry liet meerdere malen weten dat ze af zou haken als haar rol te klein zou worden, iets wat de makers uiteraard niet wilden gezien vele bezoekers die de actrice waarschijnlijk naar de film zou trekken.
