De bekende Amerikaanse actrice Kelly Preston is op 57 jarige leeftijd overleden aan de gevolgen van borstkanker. De vrouw van John Travolta (Savages, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3) heeft twee jaar gestreden de ziekte.

Preston was al een paar jaar niet meer te zien op het witte doek of televisie. Haar laatste rol had ze in Gotti (2018) waarin ze de rol speelde van Victoria Gotti, de dochter van maffiabaas John Gotti, in de film gespeeld door Travolta.

Grotere rollen had ze in films als Jerry Maguire, Jack Frost, Twins en Battlefield Earth. Ook in tv-series was ze te zien, met als laatste een terugkerende gastrol in CSI: Cyber in 2016.

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly's love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don't hear from us for a while.
