Regisseur Sam Raimi maakte al drie succesvolle Spider-Man films, en liet tegenover MTV weten dat het wat hem betreft nu wel genoeg is geweest, tenzij het script voor de volgende film briljant is. "If I can't find the right story that would work for me and that I could tell really well, I would like someone else to tell that story.
