Woorden zoals "bruut", "grappig", "bloederig", "chaotisch" en "geweldig" komen vaak voor. Kijkers zijn vol lof over de perfecte balans tussen horror en humor zonder dat de spanning teniet wordt gedaan. Daarnaast wordt ook het acteerwerk van hoofdrolspeler Austin Abrams geprezen.

This movie starts at 30 MPH and somehow keeps shredding through the gears until it's flying at 200. It's lean, it's mean, it's absolutely insane, and it's almost everything I wanted from a Resident Evil movie.
Zach Cregger didn't just craft a GREAT Resident Evil movie (he made an awesome video game adaptation that I can already see myself rewatching for years)
Brutal. Funny. Gory. Completely WTF-inducing. It's packed with dread, jump scares, Easter eggs, & most importantly, some INCREDIBLE creature designs.

#ResidentEvil may not feature recognizable characters/storylines, but by tapping into the relentless tension of the games, Zach Cregger has actually delivered the most faithful take yet. Very bloody, very funny, and it made me jump at least 3 times (no easy task). The fella sitting in front of me hid behind his jacket for most of the movie. Easily among the best video game adaptations I've seen.

Barbarian and Weapons were both darkly comedic, but Resident Evil cranks it up several notches thanks to the brilliant Austin Abrams (skittish and clumsy James in Weapons) as hapless courier Bryan and a whipsmart script by Cregger and Shay Hatten. Cregger is quickly evolving into a new school horror maestro.
The film is pretty faithful to the games while still successfully crossing over into cinematic g(l)ory. Some of the first person POVs during the action scenes make you feel like you're immersed in a game environment and the nonstop action gives the movie a relentless pace.
Scary, good fun and fantastic in IMAX.
