Sony Pictures heeft de rechten voor het Hasbro bordspel Risk gekocht. Dit is één van de vele bordspellen, waarvan de laatste maanden een verfilming is aangekondigd. Zo krijgen bijvoorbeeld Zeeslag en Monopoly dezelfde behandeling.
Hasbros Brian Goldner wijst op het succes van de Transformers en G.I. Joe films: "Audiences have shown a great desire for films that bring to life everything that has made these franchise properties stand the test of time. Risk werd bedacht door de Franse filmregisseur Albert Lamorisse en werd in 1957 in Frankrijk uitgebracht onder de naam La Conquête du Monde (De Verovering van de Wereld).
