Het nieuws rondom de nieuwe Superman film stroomt plotseling binnen; we hoorden eerder al dat Zack Snyder was aangesteld als regisseur van de door Christopher Nolan geproduceerde film. Nu weten we ook welke villain zijn opwachting zal gaan maken: General Zod!
Volgens The Hollywood Reporter heeft David Goyer's script een connectie met de originele film van Richard Donner. Zod zal ook centraal staan in de nieuwe film. Hoewel THR het nog een gerucht noemt, is het nieuws reeds bevestigd door meerdere betrouwbare bronnen, aldus /Film.
Verder beweert Nolan dat Goyer er eindelijk achter is hoe hij het personage Superman moet benaderen:
..What it is, while David Goyer and myself were putting together the story for another Batman film a few years ago, you know thrashing out where we might move on from the Dark Knight, we got stuck. We were just sitting there idly chatting and he said by the way, I think know how you approach Superman.. and he told me his take on it. I thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time Ive been able to conceive of how youd address Superman in a modern context I thought it was a really exciting idea. What you have to remember about Batman and Superman is that what makes them the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who they were when they were created, when they were first developed. You cant move too far away from that.
Ook regisseur Snyder heeft al een eerste indruk van het verrichte werk van Nolan en Goyer:
Its early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. Ive always felt he was kind of awesome. Ill finish Sucker Punch and get right at it.
Superman moet uit gaan komen in de zomer van 2012.
