Watchmen-regisseur Zack Snyder heeft tegenover de Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex bevestigd dat Amy Adams de rol van Lois Lane speelt in zijn Superman reboot. Ze sluit aan bij de huidige cast die voorlopig bestaat uit Henry Cavill, die The Man of Steel speelt, en Diane Lane en Kevin Costner, die mama en papa Kent spelen.
Adams volgt Kate Bosworth op die in Superman Returns (2006) de rol speelde van de gehaaide journaliste van de Daily Planet. Adams is in het verleden drie keer genomineerd geweest voor een Oscar. Afgelopen februari maakte ze nog kans op het felbegeerde beeldje voor haar bijrol in The Fighter en eerder ook voor haar bijrollen in Doubt (2008) en Junebug (2005). Ook speelde ze in films als Enchanted (2007) en Julie and Julia (2009).
Zack Snyder over de casting: There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.
Over het de film zegt Snyder nog: It goes back to what Ive said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. Whats important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to todays audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].
Superman: Man of Steel moet in december 2012 uitkomen.
