Een tijdje geleden berichtten we nog dat de toenmalig zestienjarige actrice Saoirse Ronan een rol zou spelen in The Hobbit, maar nu blijkt dat de actrice heeft besloten toch maar geen rol op zich te nemen in de productie.

"I loved the book and we were talking about if for a while," vertelt de actrice, "but I would have been tied up for a long period of time - they're shooting for over a year - and there were other projects that I had to consider in the meantime."

Ronan timmert al een tijdje flink aan de weg. Zo kreeg ze een Oscar-nominatie voor haar rol in Atonement (2007) en speelde ze een hoofdrol in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones (2009).

In december 2012 gaat The Hobbit wereldwijd in première.
