De Franse regisseur Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) heeft eind vorige week tijdens het Filmfestival van Cannes bekendgemaakt dat hij plannen heeft voor een Franstalige film met Audrey Tautou (Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) in de hoofdrol. Dat meldt The New York Times. Over het project is verder nog niets bekend. Gondry legt als volgt uit hoe hij Tautou heeft kunnen overtuigen:

"I have a little Bolex camera. You crank to rewind it, and you shoot film – 16 millimeter. I’m doing a lot of short film in different subject. When I wanted to convince an actress to be part of my next project, I did an animation of me asking her with flowers and things, and flying, and sky."

Volgens The New York Times wordt het project met Tautou de eerstvolgende film van Gondry, maar de man heeft nog wel één en ander op de plank liggen: There is The We and the I, een half-drama / half-docu over een schoolbus vol kinderen; een documentaire over Noam Chomsky; een mogelijke verfilming van de Philip K. Dick-roman Ubik; de animatiefilm Megalomania; en The Return of the Ice Kids waar Ellen Page ooit aan verbonden was.
