Kritiek op een specifiek onderdeel
Inhoudelijk leunt de productie sterk op nostalgie en fungeert het als een eerbetoon aan de oorspronkelijke trilogie. Er is echter ook kritiek op een specifiek verhaalelement rondom AI. Desondanks wordt de meta-humor door de meeste critici als vermakelijk ervaren.
De weg van de zevende film naar het witte doek verliep onrustig na het vertrek van diverse acteurs en de oorspronkelijke regisseur. Het project herpakte zich toen Neve Campbell terugkeerde als hoofdrolspeelster. Daarnaast nam Kevin Williamson, de scenarioschrijver van het origineel, de regie op zich.

I had a blast with #Scream7. Shockingly unpretentious - it's a Pt. 7 slasher movie and is just happy to have fun characters and cut them up in clever ways. Neve rocks and Kevin Williamson's great at staging this stuff. A lot of Halloween DNA as Ghostface darts in and out of frame
