Vorige maand werd bekendgemaakt dat er een nieuwe Fast and the Furious aan zit te komen en dat de film Fast Five zal gaan heten. De studio heeft handtekeningen van alle betrokkenen, waaronder Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, producer Neal Moritz, regisseur Justin Lin en scenarist Chris Morgan.

Er is intussen het één en ander bekend over het plot van de film. Vin Diesel schreef het volgende op zijn Facebook pagina:

Had a meeting with Justin Lin today regarding the Fast saga… some daring but fascinating thoughts in terms of action set pieces… and relationships, old and new. The team is on their way to Brazil this evening, to scout, and to see what selection of cars there are. P.s. Will be talking to DT next week, maybe he can let me show some concept art of Riddick… Peace.

De eerste film speelde zich af in Zuid-Californië, 2 Fast 2 Furious vond plaats in Florida en Tokyo Drift gebruikte uiteraard Tokyo als locatie. De vierde film, Fast & Furious, ging zo'n beetje op elk gebied 'back to basics' en speelde zich dus ook weer af in Zuid-Californië. Fast Five kiest schijnbaar dus voor Brazilië en volgt Dom (Diesel) en Brian (Walker), die op de vlucht zijn voor de wet.
