Paul Walker is in Californië om het leven gekomen bij een auto-ongeluk. De auto waarin hij zat botste tijdens een liefdadigheidsevenement tegen een boom en vloog in brand. De acteur, vooral bekend uit de The Fast and the Furious-films, werd 40 jaar oud.
Walker zou niet zelf achter het stuur hebben gezeten. Een vriend van Walker bestuurde de Porsche. Walker was een liefhebber van sportauto's.
De acteur, geboren en getogen onder de rook van Hollywood, begon zijn acteercarrière als baby in een reclame voor Pampers. Op zijn twaalfde speelde hij voor het eerst in televisieseries als Who's the Boss. Naast de FF-films was hij ook te zien in films als Running Scared (2006), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Takers (2010) en Hours (2013). Op dit moment was hij bezig met de opnames van de zevende Fast & Furious-film.

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. - #TeamPW
