De Mexiaanse regisseur Guillermo del Toro, wiens Pan's Labyrinth momenteel lovende kritieken oogst, treft momenteel voorbereidingen voor een vervolg op zijn comicverfilming Hellboy uit 2004. De film heeft als ondertitel The Golden Army en moet in 2008 verschijnen met Ron Perman uiteraard weer in de hoofdrol. Del Toro had het het volgende te melden:

"First up is Hellboy 2, which is due to go into production early next year. It will shoot in Hungary and the idea is to make a movie that is more fun, more loose and more spectacular than the original. We all learned our lessons doing the first one and we want to put them to work on the second one. Mike Mignola and I have come up with the story and it's a little closer to the comic books than the first one was."
