Winnaars DGA Awards bekend
Avatar lijkt niet langer de favoriet voor de Oscar voor Beste Film.
Kathryn Bigelow heeft de 'DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2009' gewonnen voor haar film The Hurt Locker. Daarmee geeft Bigelow niet alleen James Cameron (Avatar) het nakijken, ze is meteen ook de eerste vrouw ooit die deze belangrijke filmprijs in de wacht weet te slepen.
Maar nog belangrijker: The Hurt Locker is vanaf nu de grote favoriet voor de Oscar voor Beste Film. De Amerikaanse filmrecensent Roger Ebert merkt op dat de afgelopen 60 jaar slechts 6 DGA-winnaars er niet in slaagden om ook de Oscar voor Beste Film mee naar huis te nemen. In 90% van de gevallen vallen de winnaars dus samen.
