Gisteren werden voor de 72ste keer in de geschiedenis de prestigieuze Golden Globes uitgereikt. Als grote winnaar komt dit jaar Boyhood naar voren, waar regisseur Richard Linklater met castleden Ellar Salmon, Patricia Arquette, Lorelei Linklater en Ethan Hawke gedurende twaalf jaar aan werkte.

De dramafilm nam in totaal drie beeldjes mee naar huis, voor de beste dramafilm, beste vrouwelijke bijrol (Patricia Arquette) en beste regie. Een andere grote winnaar was de film Birdman van regisseur Alejandro González Iñárritu. Voor zijn hoofdrol in die film mocht Michael Keaton het beeldje voor de beste acteur mee naar huis nemen en verder won de film in de categorie beste scenario.

De award voor de beste mannelijke hoofdrol ging naar Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything en de prijs voor de beste mannelijke bijrol ging naar J.K. Simmons, voor zijn rol als muziekleraar in Whiplash. Dan is er nog Amy Adams, die een beeldje kreeg voor haar hoofdrol in Big Eyes. De film die als beste komedie naar voren kwam, is Wes Andersons The Grand Budapest Hotel.
