Heat Vision bericht dat Scott Alexander en Larry Karaszewski zijn ingehuurd om het scenario te gaan schrijven voor Ridley Scotts aankomende filmversie van het bekende bordspel Monopoly. Het duo werkte in het verleden mee aan films als Ed Wood, The People vs. Larry Flynt en 1408.
Hoewel het project niet langer in handen is van Universal Pictures, blijven producenten Bennett Schneir en Brian Goldner er wel aan meewerken. Scott zal naast de regie ook als producent optreden. Hasbro, het bedrijf achter het bordspel, pompt ook geld in de ontwikkeling van het project.
"We're developing a great story. It's a very fun take. Ridley is still the perfect creative steward, because he creates these great, fictionalized worlds...Suffice it to say, it's a story about a family with a history, and we're projecting that into current times. But it's not 'Wall Street'. It's more about property ownership and of the play-pattern of the game."
Er is nog geen startdatum bekend, maar de release zou ergens in 2012 of 2013 moeten zijn.
