Marvel is in de laatste fase van onderhandeling met de Britse acteur Toby Jones om de boosaardige wetenschapper Arnim Zola te gaan spelen in Joe Johnstons Captain America: The First Avenger. We kennen Jones o.a. van zijn vertolking van Truman Capote in Infamous. Ook was hij te zien in W. en Frost/Nixon. Mocht dit allemaal te serieus klinken voor een comic verfilming als Captain America; hij verleende ook zijn stem aan Dobby the House Elf in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (en zal ook weer te horen zijn in beide delen van The Deathly Hallows)

Arnim Zola was a biochemist during World War II who became one of the first human genetic engineers in history after finding papers and equipment used by the offshoot race of humanity, the Deviants. He found a ready home among the Nazi party, who saw his actions as the ability to ensure the existence of a master race. One of his first accomplishments was the creation of a brain pattern imprinting device, which would allow someones mental essence to be projected into a cloned brain. Zola presented such a gift to Adolf Hitler, creating the Hate-Monger. Zola also used these skills to form a new body for himself, surviving through the war and into modern times. The Red Skull also financed some of Zolas experiments, allowing Zola to produce such creations as Primus, Doughboy, and Man-Fish. This association led to Zolas first confrontation with Captain America in the jungles of Central America. Zola has since continued his experiments at various times and locations around the globe. Often, his crimes against humanity bring him into conflict with various heroes, from Captain America to Deadpool.
Jones vergezelt Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Hugo Weaving (Red Skull) en Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter). De productie begint deze zomer in Engeland. De Nederlandse release is op 21 juli 2011 (bioscoopagenda).
Nu we toch bezig zijn! MTV komt met het nieuws dat Howard Stark, de vader van Tony Stark (aka Iron Man), ook zijn opwachting zal gaan maken in Captain America. Iron Man regisseur Jon Favreau zei het volgende:
Yeah, because he was around then. ['Captain America'] is World War II. It wouldnt be that same actor, probably, because he would be much younger.[Howard Stark] was starting out during that time, and [he] was involved with the war effort, much like Howard Hughes.
In Iron Man 2 wordt Howard Stark gespeeld door John Slattery.
