DreamWorks Animation heeft aangekondigd dat haar films vanaf 2009 allemaal speciaal gemaakt zullen worden voor 3D-vertoning. Momenteel worden sommige films achteraf geschikt gemaakt voor drie dimensies, maar het bedrijf wil de mogelijkheden van de techniek beter benutten en daar vanaf het begin van de productie al rekening mee houden. De eerste film die op deze manier gemaakt zal worden is Monsters vs. Aliens.

Jeffrey Katzenberg van DreamWorks Animation: "Historically, 3D has been used primarily as an add-on or a bonus feature. And while audiences have enjoyed that, they haven't really seen the true potential of this technology. We're going to use the latest stereoscopic 3D technology to build our movies from the ground up. We believe that this will create more opportunities for our artists as well as more compelling experience for the audience."
