Nomadland is de grote winnaar van de BAFTA Awards, die zondagavond werden uitgereikt in Londen. De film won vier awards, waaronder die van beste film, beste regisseur (Chloé Zhao) en beste actrice (Frances McDormand).

Er waren dit jaar flink wat winnaars vergeleken met andere jaren. Promising Young Woman won twee awards (voor beste Britse film en beste originele scenario), net als de Britse film Rocks, animatiefilm Soul, The Sound of Metal, The Father en Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

De grootste verrassing van de avond is waarschijnlijk de winst voor Sir Anthony Hopkins (voor zijn rol in The Father). Veel mensen hadden hun geld gezet op Chadwick Boseman (voor Ma Rainey's Black Bottom).
