Honor Blackman is afgelopen maandag op 94-jarige leeftijd overleden. Ze stierf vredig in haar huis in Sussex en was in het bijzijn van familie.
De familie bracht via The Guardian het volgende statement naar buiten:
"As well as being a much-adored mother and grandmother, Honor was an actor of hugely prolific creative talent; with an extraordinary combination of beauty, brains and physical prowess, along with her unique voice and a dedicated work ethic, she achieved an unparalleled iconic status in the world of film and entertainment and with absolute commitment to her craft and total professionalism in all her endeavours she contributed to some of the great films and theatre productions of our times"
Goldfinger
Blackman is het bekendst als Bondgirl Pussy Galore in de onvolprezen James Bond-film Goldfinger, die nog steeds wordt gezien als één van de beste Bondfilms in de geschiedenis.
Met haar 37 jaar was Blackman jarenlang de oudste Bondgirl op het witte doek. Pas in 1983 pakte Maud Adams (Octopussy) dit record over.
Avengers
Blackman maakte voor haar rol in Goldfinger furore in de Britse serie The Avengers. Als Cathy Gale werd zij een van de twee sterren van de show en een enorme hit onder het publiek.
