Al sinds 2007 staat Dwayne Johnson ingepland om het DC-personage Black Adam te spelen en nu is eindelijk de kogel door de kerk. De film verschijnt eind 2021!

Het is The Rock zelf die het nieuws onthulde via zijn Instagram-pagina. Hij plaatste er zelfs onderstaande afbeelding bij en schreef dat hij er veel zin in heeft: "Zoals de meeste opgroeiende kinderen droomde ik ervan een superheld te zijn. Met coole superkrachten vechten voor wat goed is en de mensheid beschermen," aldus Johnson.

Tegenstander van Superman
Black Adam is een bekende tegenstander van Superman, in het DC Extended Universe drie keer gespeeld door Henry Cavill. Voor die rol acht Johnson zich niet geschikt. Zoals eerder aangegeven krijgen we dus eerst een solofilm rond Black Adam, het personage met het alter ego Teth Adam die ook geinfecteerd wordt met de 'Power of Shazam'.

"Black Adam start als een schurk," zei Johnson eerder tegenover ComicBook.com. "Dan wordt hij een anti-held. En daarna wordt hij misschien een held, of misschien ook niet." De regie van Black Adam komt in handen te liggen van Jaume Collet-Serra en de releasedatum staat nu vast op 22 december 2021.
